Component Kit catalog and reworked invitations

Most of April's work went into the Component Kit. It now has a browsable catalog with live previews, and around 300 blocks use shadcn theme tokens to pick up your theme colors.

We also reworked workspace invitations in Ultimate and brought those changes to Pro and Essential. The v4 docs are now marked stable.

#Component Kit

  • Catalog home with a working category sidebar and quick filters
  • tweakcn-style theme switcher with color schemes and dark mode
  • New components: date picker (single and range), autocomplete, time input, textarea, accordion, responsive drawer, toggle group, spinner and pagination
  • A responsive viewport checker for previews
  • 336 blocks outside the Ultimate set moved to an archive
  • New landing, user dashboard, admin suite and external page blocks from Ultimate

#Workspace invitations

Invitation types now use database-generated enums in place of loose strings. We also fixed invitation email rendering.

#Ultimate, Pro and Essential

  • Added 97 tests in Ultimate, bringing the total to 262. They cover auth, workspaces, feedback, marketing and RLS.
  • Tightened checks on privileged queries and public API routes
  • Fixed proxy response forwarding and updated route patterns to path-to-regexp v8 syntax
  • Claude Code skills now ship as skill directories in all three kits
  • Pro and Essential moved to a monorepo layout. All three kits now get versioned GitHub releases.
  • In March, all three kits moved to Next 16.2, TypeScript 6 and the latest Supabase packages, and removed baseUrl from tsconfig

#Docs

The v4 docs have routing and navigation fixes. We also removed the remaining v3 references.

Nextbase Ultimate v4

Nextbase Ultimate v4 landed on December 14. Most of the work that followed that week focused on cleanup and a simpler workspace dashboard.

We removed internationalization and solo workspaces from Ultimate, leaving fewer code paths to work through when customizing the app.

#Follow-ups to v4

  • Removed internationalization (intl) and solo workspaces from Ultimate
  • Simplified workspace dashboard rendering and cleaned up the projects table
  • Split the feedback page into more organized components

#Fixes and cleanup

  • generateStaticParams no longer fails the build when data is missing
  • Cleaned up imports and type definitions across the app
  • Set an explicit envMode in turbo.json and tidied up the environment variable definitions

Component registry and Next.js 16

From September through November, most of our work went into the website's component registry. Nextbase Essential also moved to Next.js 16.

Nextbase Ultimate now includes MCP config for Playwright and Supabase. Supabase switched to asymmetric JWT signing keys, so we updated the docs and excluded Ultimate's local signing key from git.

#Component registry

I spent most of November on the registry. Each component has a demo page built on the shared DemoBlock to keep the demos consistent in appearance and behavior.

  • Added loader, gooey, shine and magnetic buttons, with accessibility fixes for the shine button
  • Added an icon blur component with smooth animations
  • Built avatar, slider and select components on Base UI
  • Added docs and navigation components, tutorial steppers, announcement banners, testimonials and toast alerts
  • Wrote a guide to creating your own styled Base UI components

#Essential on Next.js 16

  • Upgraded to Next.js 16 with Turbopack configuration
  • Added TypeScript 5.9.3 and typed routes
  • Updated the React and Supabase packages
  • Removed the unused pgsodium extension from the Supabase migration

#Ultimate

  • Added MCP config so AI coding tools can use Playwright and Supabase out of the box
  • Excluded the Supabase signing key from git
  • Fixed end-to-end tests for changelog, feedback and workspace management
  • Updated the README to say v4 is in development

#Docs and store

  • Added a version selector and improved the docs page layout
  • Updated the Stripe docs and improved type safety in the Stripe and Polar integrations
  • Reworked purchase benefits and their tier mappings, along with repository invitation handling
